just installed xp on a hardrive went to boot up now i get a blue screen sayin about memory dump any idea y?
shall i try install it again?

i took the hard drive out of my mates and installed xp with the hard drive in my machine

RAM problem as aaron says, i had same problem, new ram sorted it

works on all other hard disks tho just not my mates one which ive just installed xp on

i could install 98 and 2000 on my harddrive, blue screen on xp - new ram, xp is now fine

The memory dump means that something, probably a driver, fucked up on startup (or while running Windows) and Windows is making a copy of what's in your RAM so that it can be analysed (by submitting it to the Microsoft Error Report thing) and the problem found. You need the stop code, and put it into the site above.

Had this problem on two systems. Seemed to be a problem with mixed memory chips so i matched them up and all worked
