Following on from this post

i have taken the icv out one more time, sprayed some wd40 on the electrical connections as told, but it back in and its idling fine...

until i touch the throttle. i dont have a rev meter, but if i say rev to 2000 itll go back down as it should, but if i take it to say 3000 itll stay there revvin ridiculously

wot could be the problem

sticky accelerator cable

or throttle lever on the inlet manifold

You sure your airflow meter is ok?

Also had problems with idle climbing high when it was really hot under the bonnet (non-enclosed induction kit)...

my does it sometimes, but only to about 1.5k revs, not that often though for it to be a problem at the moment...

i sprayed i load of wd40 at the cable and throttle area, but didnt seem to be sticking anyway

which bit is the air flow meter and how do i check it?

only way to check is get a new 1! have u had it pluged in to see if there are any fault codes? air flow meter is on the pipe from ur airbox/KnN i think

ive did a paper clip test when i had the em light as you cna read in the other thread, but that just told me about the icv, which i think now is ok

if the only way to test is to get a new one, how much and where from?

could it be anything else? i dont wanna get a new airflow meter if it doesnt do anything to help
