yesterday i turned my computer on and the HDD was making a wierd sound over and over again..

sounded like whe nthe monitor initialises for the first time when you turn your computer on.. strange.

anyway i thought fuck as you do 80gb worth of stuff gone in just like that, movies, games, porn, pics, saved, work, gf's work, etc.. gone

so as i wasnt happy i sripped the machine down and cleaned and rebuilt in the hope that it will revive the HDD even tho u know it never works..

so i put a 6gb hdd in and the video card is fucked!

thried both thte HDD and GC on 3 different machine and nothing. so i assume its safe to assume there dead..

look at the warrenty for the GC 2 months out of date. fuck! (9600XT)

so now im in need of another GC and HDD,

for the HDD i was thinking 120GB SATA

but im a little stuck when it comes to choosing the correct grahpics card.

i can get a Sparkle 256mb 6600 for 101.97

but i dont know if there really any good.

what do you guys have and what you suggest?

i play all the latest games so need something to run them

indeed, ati 9800 pro atleast. i have one, and it copes well with everyone.

the 6600 GT is the equilivant, ment to be quite good. if you buy that id be tempted to go for the XFS not the sparkle (atleast anyway).

if I were you...

check your power supply...

Having both things go at once, NOT good!

Could also indicate a bad power-feed to your house or that particular socket in the house...

I didn't see the point in flashing, not worth the risk in my opinion

size doesnt matter Chris.
A decent 300w PSU is better than a 450w cheap brand, if you've got a decent graphics card and large HDs and serious about gaming then a decent PSU is worth it.
the one ive bought is:

Antec power supplies are great and worth the money like Bart said.

Stay away from cheap brands like Q-Tec

I think the data on the HDD will still be there, you just need to find a way of accessing the data without a table of contents or whatever it is...
