Years ago when I had my Corsa, some donut reversed into my car (which was stationary) doing about 20mph, and that did much less damage.
I reckon you must have been doing a bit more than 15mph or whatever it was!

Lets all be honest with eachother, my mate crashed in to the back of my old car at 30 and did less damage to his or my car, and they were both 12 year old ford escorts!

i reckon about 15mph like u say,
a car has a lot of momentum at that pace, and an inch wide chunk of metal post is gonna do some damge stopping it.
Especially tin cans like old pug's

what into tho marc?
metal posts don't absorb much impact, not like a car bumper into another

You were wheel spinning the front wheels ... hence the loss in traction - knobber.

its simple physics hitting a car at that speed does less damage because the impact is over a gretare area, this is basically a point load.

If you were simply sliding at 10-15mph, you would've bounced off the kerb and reduced your speed even more.
You might've came around the corner at 10-15mph, but then you've accelerated too early as you came out of the corner et voila.
25-30mph perhaps?

I think about 15-20mph. A mate of a mate reversed into a stump in a 306 and just caught it on the passenger wheel and pushed it into the bodywork. It crumpled the whole left side of the car and creased the roof slightly as the chasis bent.

im not arguing at all, but did the signpost bend or give at all, cos these railings sure stayed still like they were designed to! so the car felt the full extent
