Right guys,
Ive just aquired a new laptop, thats running a ATI Raedon 9000 graphics card. However, i havent got the cd with the drivers on, so i had to find them on the net.
I tried installing the drivers i found, but for loads of reasons that i dont fully understand, it didnt work.
anyway, to cut a long story short.......i executed (!) the following sequence.....
Right click(on desktop)>properties>Settings>Advanced>Adapter>properties>driver
Being an idiot, i selected the option to run 'automatically' from the dropdown menu, as opposed to 'startup' option that was currently selected.
so, now, when i start the laptop up, i get the loading screen fine, and the 'windows is loading' screen......but then when windows starts, all i get is a blank screen. I can hear the little bubble in the desktop tray popping up (as it always does) to tell me that i have files waiting to be written to a cd) so i know windows is loading fine.......im just not seeing it.
anyway, i cant change back the setting i altered because i cant see the fucker.
ive tried trawling through setup, but cant find anything. Ive tried pain-stakingly going through the same process on this cpomputer and replicating the 'amount of clicks' ( ) on the laptop, but some of the menus are no doubt different, so its not working.
so, can anyone suggest a way of sorting this? a code to type in on setup or something.
or will i have to completely delete windows and reformat the HD, or will running the windows CD (that i havent got, by the way) and fixing windows do it?
Its XP home edition, if that makes any differece.....whereas im using xp prof on here.
anyway, sorry about the essay folks, but ive got some important work on there for which the submission deadline is rapidly approaching so Any help would be very much appreciated.
