Hello- Got a bit of a problem with the mini at the moment... think its the miltek exhaust causing it but im not sure.
Basically for about the last month the exhaust system has sounded much louder and raspy when cold--- It didnt sound unpleasant and this has quickly gone away when the system warmed up after about 5 minuits of driving.
Last week I noticed a ticking sound coming from the rear of the car on idle-- this went away as soon as i accelerated. I had put this extra noise down to the exhaust bedding in a bit and changing tone as this has happened with all other exhausts i have had.
However the last couple of days the exhaust has been sounding louder and luoder when cold and instead of the normal lift off ' popping sound' i have been getting more of a cracking noise on lift off.
Today the car sounds like a tractor and has not improved after a 15 minute drive... The whole car is shaking from the exhaust vibration--- really loud raspy noise--- passers by are staring at me coming from miles away.
I am taking the car back to the people who supplied and fitted the exhaust so they can look at it. I fit is not the back box then its going back to bmw.
Anybody hazard a guess as to what has happened... its a miltek back box, but every thing else on the system is standard

ok--- ive just jacked the car up and its fairly obvious what the problem is---- the cat pipe is no longer connected to the exhaust system
I cant see whether it has sheared off or whether the bolts have just come off- looks like the bolts have fell off, but the system is defininately disconnected just behind the front wheels with the cat just hanging downwards------ another great piece of work by AMD...I was warned not to use them but i thought i could trust them to fit a back box--- fuking idiots

correct----- incredibly another mini2 forum user has had the exact same thing happen this week.... I quote......
"AMD fitted mine too, and they still haven't sent my exhaust yet It'll just be the bolts fallen out. I fitted another spare bolt that I had to secure it till I take it back. It's not the "correct" size, but it fits and holds, especially with two locking washers.
Get on the phone tomorrow mate "

Yeah i was about to say it was loose and now is seperated, the cracking noise was no doubt condensation building up around the loose joint, and it went when you accelerated as it got so hot the water evapourated

Well well well. Sorry to hear you had problems, but i warned you about AmD. In fact, i warned you several times and now you see why. I hope you get a result out of it but knowing them, they will try and get out of it somehow. word of advice to anyone out there wanting to use AmD. They are muppets of the highest caliber.
hope it gets sorted real soon mate.

I think the AMD I knew of the past and the current AMD you warned me about are two very different things.....Unfortuantly i already had this fittred before you warned me about the problems with the one click.... since then all i have seen is bad reports
