Anyone know what sort of job this is to replace on a C20XE? Do you need to torque tighten the bolts when doing them back up?

yeah - oil all round the gasket edge. Have to top up oil every couple of weeks or so. So thought i'd try to fix it.

I spoke to Vauxhall who asked me what Gearbox i have. The engine supposedly came from a 1990 Astra Gsi and at the time of sale was told it was an F20.

Guy at vauxhall tells me an F20 was never used on that engine....hmmmm

ive had this same agrument with them.... look at what it says on the box.. it will be stamped F20 or F16.. one or the 2...

once u have figured that out, drain the box oil, i think the bolts are 10mm.s and should be about 8 or 10, cant remember.... once off get rid of all traces of old gasket and clean the face of the mating surfaces. Apply new gasket and tighten to specified torque level. Refill with gearbox oil (smells lovely by the way) job done...
