i always use optimax in my x16xe (99-ron aint it??) duno exactly but never ran anything else!
you'll get better fuel economy with a higher-rated petrol, and engine will run a little smoother too

Optimax - My car would run like a bag of nails in the tumble drier without it - also use Octane booster sometimes

Hum might try the super stuff. Always used it in the Calibra - never in the Corsa to be honest.

Using 97 RON petrol does not fuck up older engines. In fact, using it is better for your engine than using the economy crap.
Higher octane petrol has better anti-knock properties for a start.
I use Optimax in the Astra, although it's a bit more expensive than regular gas, my fuel economy has definately improved, but can't say I've noticed a difference in performance - it's only a 1.4 16v after all.

Some older vehicles may need to use a valve seat lubricant with Shell Optimax to help protect the valve seats recession.

higher RON fuels are just less prone to pre ignition, on most low powered cars it won't make much if any difference to the power
