Is this possible, to make it more desirable?
If you get me ... I know the value of my clio will go down in time, but can i do things that would give me a better chance of getting abit more for it when i come to sell it?
i was thinking alloys (15's, as its currently on steelies ) and a CD player (currently got a tape deck )
Can't really think of anything else, apart from looking after it and keeping it clean and tidy?

Depends how ling you keep it I guess, my car is now so old and 'collectable' it aperiates (sp).
Other than a low millage and keeping it rust free etc not really much you can do.

not many cars ecome more desirable unless you keep them in mint conditoin.
but things like electric windows, CD player ect will make the car easier to sell, and will mean your car may sell quicker.

I dont plan on selling it for about a year and its currently got 58k on the clock so i suppose all i can do it try and keep the mileage down...
But having to go up and down the M4 everyday, and its a 150 mile round trip to my parents isnt going to help!

Problem is that new cars are coming down in price all the time, therefore making second hand cars worth even less. You expect on average to lose 30% of value from new in just three years some cars like alfas are around the 70%.
Dpends where and how you sell it as well. For example if you buy a new or newish car they may offer you more in part ex to encourage a sale.

Only reason why i made money on my first cars was my nan gave it me, though until i got it don't think it had ever been out of above second gear.
Love the old girl but fuck me she is a danger on the road.
Tired to pull away in five on a busy roundabout the other day, i bricked it as she stalked after pulling out about 2 foot.

If you can't keep the mileage down then there's no way you'll be able to retain the value of the car.

But surely if i try to do the least amount of driving i can, put alloys, CD player and central locking then id keep the value?
I only bought the car for £700 and its in very good condition

Modding a car even if its adding etxras like cd players you rarely get what you spend on them back.

I understand that, putting a £100 cd player into a car wont make the value of the car higher, it will make it more desirable, so by adding the more desirable features it could possibly retain its value?

I don't think putting alloys will actually increase the value of the car. In a way I think it would go down, for example i'm looking for a clio 172 there have been a few i've seen with different than standard alloys. I stayed clear of these as I believe the car would of been ragged as owned by boy racers, I believe others do the same thats why the bloke is selling it cheaper than other similar 172.

The best way to not lose money on a car is to not spend any.
You're not going to lose thousands anyway.

Thats whta i think too. Always best to split and sell sepereatley if its just a couple of mods like wheels. Obviously bodykitted and flip paint you wouldnt be able to return to standard

ust drive it as normal and use the bloody thing rather than worry about how much it will be worht in a year, it maybe irrelivent as you might not make it to next year. Plus you paid 700 so its not like your going to lose thousands!

in a year, put some lexus lights on it, get some 6x9's and go to the local chav hangouts, find a 17 year old who has just passed there test, and say they can have it for a grand, give them a test drive and they will fall in love with it and buy it. = 250 profit
