it's in my head but i can't think what it is.

"Wacky Races"
'Wacky' races, indeed. Teams of several crazy drivers and their equally crazy cars, including the beautiful (hurrahh!) Penelope Pitstop and the evil (hiss!) Dick Dastardly. Almost a parody of the old serials, including the innocent female victim and the dastardly villain.

'Real Gone Ape'
When evil Dick Dastardly's car is blocked by the truck holding "King Klong", "the World's Largest Ape", Dick uses hypnosis to control the ape. After demonstrating on his cohort Muttley, he hypnotizes King Klong with a swinging watch into delaying the other racers. Then King Klong grabs Penelope and makes for the nearest tall building, doing the "King Kong on the Empire State Building" routine. The other racers come to the aid of Penelope, who makes her own escape by giving King Klong a complete makeover. The cartoon ends by King Klong accidentally wrecking Dick Dastardly's race car and hypnotizing Dick with his own swinging watch. "I obey Master … Your wish is my command."
