been told by my employer that they require me to fuffil a 4 week notice periode because it will leave them short staffed, now IMO this has nothing to do with me ??? as its not my fault they dont have enough people

knowone has said im legally required to do that, just that it would help them, which i really dont care about, so tempted to just not turn up on moday, and send a letter saying i am unable to work the notice periode as it will stop me starting my new job

wise ???

I did the same thing when i worked for Fiat in Catford, worked 2 weeks, didnt enjoy it so handed in my notice to the secretary to give to the DP and said see ya later and walked out, they still had to pay me my time i worked but they didnt pay me any commission on the 8 cars i sold (which would have been more than my basic) they cant stop you leaving, but if your gonna do it, then do it in style, pass the key cupboard one day and leisurly pick up the keys for a 911 turbo and take it for a little spin, and drive off into the sunset, thelma and louise style

Do the 4 weeks to help them out. They'll think more of you for it.
