Went out for a play last night and met up with a few mates, one of them has just bought a Type R RX-7! Its just had a fresh rebuild and have to say it was pretty nice! Never been a massive fan in the past 1) Because all the cars Id seen had been a bit rough (seem to age badly) and 2) the wankel engine!
Was gonna take mine and the RX-7 down the bypass but I think the car is a bit new to him and he made the excuse that it was still being run in and he had only just got the second tubby running right, which is fair enough I guess as it was a bit icy last night! What are the figures like for these?
Is the RX-7 just like any other high performance car ie/ takes a bit of looking after or are the engine horror stories true?

engines are tempremental if badly tuned
they run fairly hot
rotor seals can go at varying mileage, again tuned and un-loved examples seem to be the ones which will go first... same with any car!
the plus side is they have supercar potential at a fraction of the cost!

Apparently the splitter and spoiler combo on the P1 are worth 3bhp at 100mph!!! Hehe!
It must give some downforce.......have you seen the size of it!!! haha. Even if its only the weight of the thing pushing the back down!!!

They are like any Jap sports car if tuned wrong then you will get problems , if tuned right and done in the correct order you will forever have a smile on your face.
The engine horror stories are not allways true, if you do not treat the engine with car then it will not last long at all , however if you treat it right then you will see over 100K.
But then there has been cases with people having rebuild and not beding the tips in for about 1500 - 2000 miles and them going pop allready.

Nah, a good credit rating and a lot of debt!
The RX-7 sounded mint by the way!!!! I did notice the exhaust gases even at idle were seriously hot tho! Is that normal?
