Right my cars been idling like total shit recently and I had a check carried out by an auto electrician. It came back with basicully the EGR valve being fubar'd so im going to change it.

However I've heard you can just blank it off and be done with it?! what does this exactly entail and what are the benefits of it not being their?

Thanks

It needs to be working to blank it off other wise it will carry on giving you fault codes.

All you need to do it place a metal gasket with no holes between the manifold and valve so blocking the flow

http://corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=190255

wat i did though was get the haynes out, locaterd the valve and removed it, gave it a good clean using various brushes and carb cleaner, replaced it, disconnected battery for 30 mins to reset diagnostic light then i was away... still no problems to date and it idles fine

mine idles like a bag of spanners basicully. everytime i come to a junction its off dropping to sub 800rpm which naturally causes the car to splutter and die very annoying.

I've got another egr valve that sum1 gave to me after getting the diagnostic done but tbh i just want it to fuck off and die so im gonna look into getting a blanking plate made! infact im gonna post in general now asking where or who does them

mines buggered too, has been for months only get the ecu light once a month or so and the odd idle problem once a month too.

Think i'll have ago at cleaning it, im not buying a replacement it doesn't do anything important lol.
