Can a person claim agaisnt a company for taking way to long to settle your claim?

well basically my car has been gone ten months, never been found, provided the insurance company with every receipt photos etc and they are still "reviewing the decision" on how much they are going to pay me.

I got offered 2600 back in november and i told them that my dad was acting on my behalf so i wasnt willing to accept the offer on the phone till i had spoken to him and now they deny that phone call ever took place.

well basically cost a fair bit in calls to them, we had to get a loan out for a new car as they werent willing to provide a car etc, we've been told by a solicitors that we could take them to an omnisman (sp) for unfair treatment over the way they've handled the case etc, i aint really bothered its just my dads gettin abit cheesed off with all the excuses from them now.

Calls worth what - a tenner? New car is irrelvent - they were insuring your old one not warranting your future mobility.

premium number is gonna cost more than a tenner, there was about 7 months left on my policy aswell at the time

aint they got a time scale to settle it tho? its a new thing to me, i dont know to much about insurance claims

You want to complain to GISC and/or FSA who now regulate insurance business. In your terms and conditions for the insurance (policy booklet) there should be information on the complaints procedure and how to escalate your complaint. Providing that your claim is not excluded by the terms of the insurance, then they have no reason to delay settling up.
