What about a purple hose that blends into yellow, then a lime green and back to purple?

You could set 47 leds into the wrapping!

why don't you go even more different and get other bits in the engine bay the same colour aswel i.e; simple things like the lids for your oil and water??

i already have chrome ones and i dont want too much colour
