Really really am.

Fucking engine conversions

Got a new temp sensor to replace my one as it was indicated changin this would hopefully solve my woes. Managed to get old one off and pop the new one in quickly, then went about disconnecting the plug from the old one to put on newly installed sensor.

To my horror. It was absoloutely fucked. Torn in 3 places, wires exposed and covered in water and oil. The worst bit was there was only 1 out of 2 wires connected to the plug so this is most probably why it werent working. So managed to patch it up as good as i could me and me dad managed to botch the 2nd wire back in. Not a permanent soloution but ok.

Tried car out. Only a tiny bit of difference, its just a tad smoother.

On to my next woe is that it took me 5 times to start the fucking thing after i dropped my GF off, then once started drove home, as i was turning into a street a heard a WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR got REALLY loud.

Carried on down street. all seemed fine, turned corner, and WHHIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRR

To cut a long story short, by the time i got home its constantly whiiiring, sounds like a something has come loose or is rubbing on something. Now the car IMO is undrivable untill someone can help me

Feck sake.
Sorry for the essay chaps.

rubbing could be anything. but ive seen on my own car and a mates and someones else on here the bolts for the engine mount that go into the block like to come loose and fall out. if it goes on the drivers side the alternator will start rubbing on the side of the engine bay.

temp sensor does take a battering where it is, especially after 12-15 years. check your wiring, probably still fudged

Yeah im sorry for moaning, just had one of those days just one thing after another.

Im sure it will be something that owrked loose. I went over a REALLY bumper turning road hasnt been re surfaced in like 50years, im guessing that at 50mph shuddered something loose.

When it works it is

Oh and S&T are having my car back soon as it looks ok but there are bits that are poop!

What a week. Did i mention i got chased at over 110mph by some tit who didnt like me overtaking him cos he wasnt quick enough. or the moron that wanted my lane of the roundabout as well as his own, forcing me to bang my rear wheel into kerb

Driving is stressfull

My uncles been puttin 350 Chevy Engines in Holdens for years and has successfully put 3 5.7 litre Generation III LS1 V8's into 2 Holden Torana's and an FJ Holden without one bit of bother...

So dont give me the whole "well you put an engine in a car its not built for your bound for trouble" shite...

A conversions can be done succesfully with no problems at all!

These are minor problems that are either caused by wear and tear or are just missed durin the conversion

Dont ruin my thread guys

CC Makes no difference wit ha smaller car, the reason so many XE/LET owners have probs is were all on a budget and cant afford to splash out willy nilly on new looms and rebuilt blocks.

Simple as. Nothing wrong with car or engine that isnt due to things needing replacing as the engine is 15years old

There's loads of problems reported on here because there's a load of people doing it, most of them for as cheap as possible with old bits, daily driver cars and a lot of people do stuff themselves and talk about things.

I could list you a load of things wrong with my standard 11 year old GSi.

its all down to how much to spend on the conversion really, if you got shitty bits or if the engine was just slapped it from the old car you can't expect anything amazing.

Its been said before, these engines are old+++, my engine was built when I was only 7 years old so you need to invest abit more in sorting the engines out before spanking them.

Saying that it can all be down to luck IMHO, someone could have a 100k+ miler XE/LET in their car and get away with it running alright, where someone else might have a low miler and it could end up blowing up when they drive down the road.

theres no way yer gonna just have a LET put in yer car without problems... it can take weeks or months to iron out all the little bits and bobs....

alot of the problems come from the fact theres so much stuff changed at once and it so easy to forget to tighten something etc...

chin up dude

my advise is to go and try and find the problem yourself today while its bright... dont be always waiting for the 'garage' to come and help
