today i began enquiring about changing my suspension so i went first to Jam Sport in Northampton and asked them about it, i told him i wanted a 60/40 springs and damper set up for my car.... in which he basically replied the following-

- 60/40 wont sit the car right 60/60 will as although the back arch may sit lower and the front arch is higher the chassis is level however i think this is wrong as i have a ton of stereo equipment in the back which has dropped it by about 30mm since i put it in, i know this as i have pics of it before and after

- he said that there wasn't a need for shocks as my car is only a W reg so it will be alrite and they are only usually needed on older cars as they are starting to go or on cars where u want to do track days (which tbh i dont as its a 1.2) but i was under the impression that 60mm springs on their own would lead to poor handling and eventually knackered shocks which wud need replacing anyway (so its basically a false economy) but he says that my standards will be fine and it will handle fine....

so basically? who is right here, i've spent ages searching around about this and i always thought shocks and dampers is best regardless of car age and also 60/40 looks better than 60/60

pls help

"won't sit the car right".

A 60/40 kit is supposed to lower the front more - not give the car a dead horizontal stance.

Your factory shocks are 5 years old.
