Ive just had the engine changed in my car and the bloke whos fitted it is saying it wont start, he says there is no spark at all but hes not going to do anymore to it tonight as its dark and wet.

What could the problem be?

Everything electronic from the old engine is on the new one and it still isnt going. If I get a diagnostic test done on it will it tell me what the problem is?

if your not getting a spark its easy to work out.... what engine is it... check all earths, check the coil.. test it... check all connections to the coil... it has to be summin simple mate.

I think it may have an immobiliser as it has the standard alarm on it. I dont have a chip in my key though and I am using the ECU that came with the car. I didnt change it as both engines are exactly the same so doesnt that mean both ECU's are the same?

Its probably something simple but we just cannot find the porblem. All earths have been checked aswell as all the wiring. Everything electronic on the old engine has been changed over onto the new one and still no luck.

Getting annoying now

ive had a test done on the car now and there isnt power going to the ecu. Could the immobiliser of kicked in and not come off again as the car was sitting with a flat battery for a while....

Is it a 1.4 16v that you are fitting?

Where did you get the engine from?
