Any ideas guys? Im not too hot on engines so i dont really have a clue other than putting more oil in

is it just from cold or all the time constantly? could be fucked lifters but i heard your engine before and it sounded a peach.... so quite doubtfull. Do an oil change to see if it makes any difference. Dont run any of that cleaning angent shit in it though

What other effects would either of these produce?

As i seem to have strange problems at 1800-2100rpm as in, around there its jerky and down on power a noticable dip! but only between those revs and not when im using full throttle.

Getting worried now

Fad from the first day i had it it sounded noisy, but only for like 5mins when it was cold!

Its ALOT more noticable when cold, but it no longer goes away when warm. Only after the cars been run for a very long journey does it quieten down.

I think i best get lee to take a look

well from what you just said sounds pretty normal. Mine from cold used to chatter for around 15 mins and slowly quieten down. Then for the rest of the day it'll be fine. Its just where the lifters are drained of oil overnight and it takes a while for them to jack up. Also if your only doing short journeys its never going to quieten down.

Best bet would be to either replace the lifters or do frequent oil changes to see if you notice any difference.

no enine management lights or oil lights at all. Nothing out the ordinary.

As i said when i first had it it was only noisy for like 5mins, now it is even loouder and doesnt go away, i do varied lengths of driving, but on way to work journey is roughly 25-30mins and it doesnt quieten down.

I do have a basic knolledge of engines siberia, i managed to identify and fix the last problem myself. just not that technical when it comes to things like this

How much do vaux rape you for new lifters?

all c20xe/lets have this problem.... just tired lifters,

Mine sounded like a bag of nails for 10mins or so till fully heated up. Try cleaning the lifters in a petrol bath, then soaking them in engine oil for a day or so, then replace

nope.... sonic cleaning is the lifters chucked in a bath of cleansinf solution (dunno what) and ultrasonically vibrated clean.....

same idea, i.e cleanign them..... just a different and more professional process

not really DIY if you dont have an sonic bath
