Went first the first time EVER to the opticians today, im nearly 23 and havent been tested since school
Anyway as I though im short sighted so now need to fork out on glasses for Driving/TV/Cinema etc. CANT decide what style to go for, I know they give you advice but I havent a bloody clue! Whats 'in' for blokes ATM, was gonna go for some geeky retro black framed jobs if you gets me but im just not sure - can see them on skinny blokes but im not skinny so I just dunno!
Advice please
My style - rock, nu-metal, sk8 (although i'd get a 2nd pair for work as im a Bailiff).

get some thin metal frames mate - otherwise if you get big chunky jobbies you'll end up looking like a geeky twat
best bet, try loads on and see what they look like mate

mine are slim rounded rectangular lenses with thin lens frame and medium thickness arms and bridge.
frames are black.
made by Atlas. cheap but they do the trick. i'd only lose or break an expensive pair.
i'm on my 3rd set of identical ones at the moment.
the guys at the opticians dread it when i walk in as they know they'll need to get straightening or try and hunt down replacements.

Just got some nice Hugo Boss ones made into prescription shades, fine black frame, dead simple, but stylish. Then I have my normal everyday ones, Moschino frames, black again, but half rimless, ie bottom half of lens doesnt have frame round...
Can see new shades in avatar

they are a cunt to repair, make and always break
£450 is nothing thats what my lenses cost me in mine
as for suitable frame i'd be guessing your prescription is not that severe ( a pretty low minus) so most frames would be suitable. Just try all the frames you like untill you find something comfortable, right size for your face and suit you as a person. The big mistake people make is buying frames for the label even though they look stupid.
Oh and from what you said you are into try the converse range they got some pretyy funky Supra (half rim) and full rim frmes out at the minute

I dont see a problem spending a bit extra for a pair of glasses if you where them regularly.
