after plugin in my new headunit (jvc) the date dont work on the mfd! the temp and time are fine,what would i need to do to get it workin?......ps when the head unit is turned off the date reappears!,so the bulbs aint blown
anyone?

dunno this happens in me mates car with his clarion but my pioneer shows the date still in the mfd. dunno if its down to that though maybe just luck with the ISO connections or soemthing.

snip the silver wire with the red tracer (i think) at the backl of the headunit
Look in ice forum or do a search been covered literally thousands of times!

BUT I HAD A JVC B4 THIS AND THE DATE WORKED FINE...LIKE YOU SAY JUST LUCK WITH THE ISO'S  (PROBABLY)

If that pin isn't connected to anywhere inside the radio that'll make a difference.
There are certainy Sony units which display the date while you're listening to the radio but not while you're playing a CD.

There is some truth in that, read my previous reply.
It affects most aftermarket head units, the fist JVC you had must have been wired differently internally.

The date doenst display because it thinks the radio is switched on and as such it wants to tell you which station you are tuned too. Certain aftermarket units use this particular pin for something else for example a feed for a power amp as such when the radio is on it tries to in this instance power the amp but what it actually does is tell the car the radio is on. So the little car switchs the date off because it wants to tell you what you are listening too. Certain radios dont use this pin at all as such the car never gets a feed so thinks you dont turn the radio on and tell you the date. So.... you can get around this problem by not letting the car think the radio is switched on or to put it simply "snip the silver wire with the red tracer at the back of the headunit"!

Its either not there inside the unit like your first JVC, or it is and you snip the wire.

but........i dont see no silver wire with red tracer (by this i think you mean thin red strip running down the wire?) i have grey wires one with a black strip down it,could this possibly be the one,or the plain grey one with it? sorry 4 bein an pain

sorted now lads just pulled the blue wire out of the iso from back of head unit and i can still keep me amp cheerz once again

Yup that also works, ive said many times.
Its to do with the remote lead on the headunit supplying a current back down the ISO block when you turn the radio on. Its primary use is to turn on an electronic aerial or signal booster. If you suffer a loss in radio signal now, you need to reconnect the blue wire and cut the grey/red wire. If you dont have signal problems then you can leave it as it is
