right, cold reading, I'll expplain how its done. get a reasonable sized crowd, they say they can hear a name, say pete or peter, chose a fairly common name as its likely someone in the crowd will know someone of that name, if no one does, they say they miss-heard and its paul or something else similar. when someone owns up to knowing this name, they then look at the person, can usual tell by their age the typical family they'll have, i.e if the person is 60+ theres a high chance their parents wont be alive anymore, so they use that guess, 9/10 theyre right. once theyve clarified who it is, and goin on relationship between the two people and the ages, they can guess some pretty common things, like the parent saying to not worry about money, job etc, they cant fail to get this wrong as its something that most people worry about.
they do actually get alot of stuff wrong, but people dont concentrate on this, what they remember is the stuff they get right as it shocks them, these people have had ALOT of practice and are very good
