Well i washed the new corsa ive jsut got and decided to take the top off the airbox, turns out to filter is ripped so ill be getting a new one of them anyway!

Noticed this flap though, im presuming it works by when the cars going fast enough the air coming in from the ducting pushes the flap open so it gets more air in?

With mine this has been taped open, i can understand this is to get air in all the time but what route does the flap block when its forced open? I didnt look where it went

Also ive heard the airbox is pretty restrictive, what do people do to help cure this?

i never had a flap on mine, if its not connected to any wires then id say just take it out,

as for the airbox being restrictive best thing is to just get a performace panel filter and also add an extra air inlet to the box,
open induction kits give flat spots as they get to hot.

If youre after more power u need to change the inlet manifold with a mantzel/lexmaul one but that will be about £1000 after you have added a unichip to take full advantage of the mantzel etc

hope that helps?

Blank off the chamber at the left of the airbox (top of the airbox in the photo above).

Remove the flap.

Cut away the part of the air feed that overlaps the inside of the box, or better remove the standard cold air feed, widen the hole and re-route a larger airfeed into the box.
On the lid, cut away the overlap of the pipe.
Fit a Pipercross panel filter.

Flap is too alow the heat from exhaust to be used to heat up engine more quickly on cold starts as it uses the warm air

How it is now its just allowing cold air through

Get the shape by folding/cutting card or paper then cut the shape out of 1mm thick plastic or perspex.
Glue it into place.
