Looking at maybe getting one. Round about the £3K mark. N e one know n e thing about them?? Looking at just the 1.6 engine as only 19 so insurance is dodgy.

It will be very sluggish. The 2.7 v6 is poor so i imagine the 1.6 will be terrible.

Yeah i heard they aint very fast or that. Cant really be much worse than my 1.4 8v corsa to be honest. So other than the lack of speed n e thing else a problem with them?

My mate has a 1.6 and its is slow as fook, a 8v Sri keeps up with it.
On the up side they handle really well, and have full leather.
You will be pushing it to get one for 3k though I would imagine

You will be looking at the MK2 1.6 16v for that money mate, dont expect to get an excellent one for that money aswell mate....
the 1.6 16v does 0-60mph in roughly 9-10secs if IIRC.
If i was you i wouldnt bother, get a zetec S or summing for the same insurance group. Pick them up for £3000-4000

He used to have a mk2 2.0 16v and that was very nippy and good handling. Well considering ive only driven 1.2 cars it felt nippy

Seen a couple on auto trader for £2.5-3.5 for the ones i am after. Its the MK1 and MK2 that i like best not too keen on the newer ones. Leather isnt too important either as i got buckets to put in it n e ways or go for a retrim.

Just to clarify is the MK1 that Hyundai S-Coupe??? If so then yes they are gadsy. I thought the MK1 only ran for a few years at the very beginning as a kind of test run.

Theyve facelifted them in January. Now come with black headlights instead of chrome, the old style V6 wheels, clear side repeaters and a different style vent in the side. The 2.0 also now has twin tailpipes and leather, seen one with red stitching looked VERY nice indeed.
People say about the 1.6's being underpowered, have you driven the new shape 1.6? Cos they're quite surprising to bo honest.
Also, as of September 2002, ALL new Hyundai's now come with a 5year unlimited mileage warranty, even the 4x4's. Who else offers such a good manufacturer backed warranty? 3 Years Roadside Assistance and 6 year anti-perforation warranty.
The 1.6, this quarter, also has free insurance for 25-65 year olds, not much use to you tho .
