Hey... I've just noticed that by sending a file to my mate who's in the same uni as me I was able to send him a whole movie in 4 and a half mins... 696 mb transfering at over 2000 kb/s.
Our actual internet is only (adsl speed)... but what I want to do is scan this network for any file sharing, but what software do people use across networks to file share? (not across internet as ports are blocked and I can't do that)
Thanks,
Paul J

try and find a program called lanscan
that will scan your network for any servers with file sharing

but surely its a network (for say student village) - thats connected to the other accomidations... that then gets connected to the ISP that offers the internet connection which then has connection to a big internet connection and shares it out between everyone in small chunks.
Since other uni's use this connection as well, I'm guessing there must be links before you get outside of the network (i.e. before you get online)
