im in the middle of wanting to upgrade from verison 2.0.6 to latest. 2.0.11
but ive got a few mods on so gonna do patch upgrade installtion
but i need "a standard UNIX type patch application"
so i can run this sort of command "patch -cl -d [PHPBB DIRECTORY] -p1 < [PATCH NAME]"
anyone know where i can get one? cheers.

It's installed already with most distributions -- standard unix program. I assume you have shell access to the server?

how would i find that out? just by trying it?
how do i connect with shell access?

Well it's a unix command, so you have to telnet or ssh to the server, and type it at the command prompt...
Most ISPs don't let you have shell access nowadays -- where is this hosted?

Doesn't look like they offer SSH access. Send them an email asking them to perform the command for you...
