Its good mate. A few people have said that its limited. But its only as limited as your mind can take you. Not a master of it neither can I say I've used it for longer than 5 mins but if its your 1st time playing about with producing then this will get you started. I know a lot of tunes that have been produced on FL and no body knows the difference untill they're told.

yup i use it. about to change to FL 5 though and try out sonar
its pretty good mate and its fairly easy to get used to although - i find automation a pain in the arse and the sound engine isnt that good (hence why im looking at sonar)
but its pretty powerful in its own way though
swiftie - true you cant always tell the difference, but you'll probably find that they use it mostly as a sampler and then dumb everything out into soundforge etc to be mastered (due to the sound engine in FL being abit weak)...whereas using something like protools, sonar, nuendo, cubase etc the sound engine are bloody excellent so mastering can be taken place within the producing software

Yeah thats true, it will still need to be mixed down and mastered via other means.
People tend to like FL at first because of the ease of use of VST's. But once you know how to manipulate them then you can move on to sw like Cubase, Reason and others

aye reason is also good
ginge - sod linux for music production. A) hardly any decent D\A's support linux, its usually Mac and Windows, B) im sure it can handle midi fine, but soundfonts and VST(i)s and audio will be pretty shocking and c) it looks abit cack.
However, until the day something is developed for linux that handles VSTs, audio and my digidesign gear (protools stuff ) then im staying with XP, even though it gives me the finger on a regular basis
