Against my dad driving my new Gti
Absolutely left me behind
My mum didn't look that impressed when he said 'Yeh I passed you there doing over 120 mph'
I'm a bit scared to drive it though, pedals seem weird and close together, plus my foot still hurts. I'm gonna insure it tommorrow and give it a go

I plan to book the gti in to the rollers asap to see what it makes... imo it's not as fast as what everyone says about them.

They don't feel that fast unless you drive them properly, basically keep it above 4k and it flys along. Get caught below that though and it does feel dissapointing.

why are you putting a standard 106 gti on the rollers - cant u just try parkers be a hell of alot cheaper.
Best mods are Enclosed ind kit, manifold and decat should push a few bhp

They seem to vary a lot though on that engine. He might have a bit more than 120bhp or guttingly a little less. Remember the quite a few VTS saxos have been 130bhp std.

well its good practice to put your car on the rollers as soon as you get it anyway. Then you can check the health of the engine, fuelling etc. Also you have a baseline comparison for when you start modding so back

Parkers is crap. Says my 1.2 16v Corsa B was 65 bhp standard, when I got it on the rolling road I got 81 bhp with just an exhaust... Sounds to me like it was 75 bhp standard (which some Sxi's were rumoured to be)...
I wouldn't of known if I hadn't of rolling roaded it. yeh it's quite easy to push the bhp up, but I want a basis of what I had originally, so I know how much I made with the mods. Otherwise I could be like cool 139 bhp, thinking 19 bhp increase, but it was 126bhp to start with...
Also the guy at power engineering is quite helpful, tells you how your car is running and if its doing anything unusal suggests how to solve it. I.e. when my corsa was running rough he pointed out to me that it needed a new air flow meter... fixed it
If I take the car and get say 106 bhp, I'll know its not running right.
