Im an average size, 5ft 9 and weigh 11 stone.
After a good xmas i thought enough is enough im getting fit and wanna look alot leaner, basically i want to lose fat and put on muscle and stay roughly 11-12ish stone.
I have started swimming as ive heard this is a good exercise to get toned all over really and i will be going back to the gym when i get this week over.
Back onto my question, if i do not see any results after swimming and going to the gym 2-3 times a week and eating VERY heathily, fruits etc etc tuna here and there even tho i dont like it and no shitty foods at all and only 2-3 pints of lager a week. If i dont see any improvement in me by may/june i am thinking of taking creatine ready for my hollidays in september.
My main worries are the side affects of using it? Long term affects and is there any point of taking it and will you see any gains in using it for around 2 months?
Shall i just take the safe but not so good protein supplements?
Cheers

Common Creatine Side Effects
Okay, so you now know that there's probably no adverse side effect of creatine, but here are some effects of creatine you will notice physically:
You'll feel stronger, more powerful, and will have much more energy and longevity during workouts.
You'll start to notice that your body (muscles) is fuller and bigger - partly due to some water retention (a createin side effect), and mostly gain in muscle mass.
You may find that your muscles are not as 'hard' due to the water retention; however, I did not find this noticeable very much.
When you exercise intensely, you'll find that the 'screeching' pain (due to build up of lactic acid) won't bother you nearly as much!
You'll have noticeably more energy and 'bursting' power during workouts - you'll be able to lift slightly heavier weights and feel less fatigue.
Can cause kidney stones in some rare cases
You may notice some gas and bloating
Some concerns lie in the unknown effects of creatine supplementation on the heart, as its also a muscle (this area still lacks research)

Are there any creatine manufactures that have a good reputation, i would much rather have a safer creatine with the keast amount of side affects. Rather than having stronger creatine and f00king up your body.

creatine = water retention
taken with carbs around 30% of people get better recovery.
apart from that its usless unless you want water retention

Alright mate, in my work as an electrical maintanence apprentice i do alot of walking most prob upto 6 miles a day most prob walking around the factory but not alot of physical work so i will have to goto the gym.
I have also started running which im doing 3 miles. Just worrying that running and swimming is alot of cardio and will lose my objective of getting more cut.
I was deffo considering protein shakes and for an extra push (if i need it in june time) i will consider taking creatine.
Can you recommend any good protein shakes or are they all mostly the same?
Cheers

Yesh but i do deal a great deal with sports medicine both in clinical practice on wards and in the community, as my elective project already preparing to go on expedition with the British Antarctic survey as team medic so i spend as much time trying to learn and put into practice sports medicine...

Do you still take this stuff rocky even if you dont goto the gym, do you only take it before an after going to the gym or take it all the time?
Did you feel alot stronger while taking it and that you could go on for longer.
It is abit expensive isnt it £49 for 5kg but if its good stuff its worth it, 60 days worth in a 5kg tub?

i took it before i went on marine selection. If you are going to take it make sure you drink alot of water.
I was only on it for about 8 weeks because it made me tired and a bit aggressive.
I would recommend the whey protein choc powder which you can mix with either water or milk. I had to take this because i did not weigh enough for my height (6ft 3)

fat does not turn to muscle. they are two completely different cell types

you know what he meant. I once had creatine mixed with redbull before a footy match, sent me abit funny, but apart from that when i used it ( just before exercise as taking it other times means you waste it) i percieved an increase in my aerobic and muscular endurance.
