went too setup a friends dvd player at her house, so i went it i got there it it wouldnt power up.
so she said take it home and play around and see wot u can do.
so i do some voltage testing bridged it over the POS and NEG and POP blue spark and it triped the house fuse box heh.
good job its only a cheap 1 but made me jump gonna sell the drive on ebay

we just blew up a maxtor one-touch 160gb firewire drive at work 
stupid-ass girl plugged it into the wrong power supply so instead of 12v supply, it got 20v 
oooooh there fcuked too as they have a big-ass video presentation stored on it & need it for monday... but they blew the HDD controllers so it cant even be recovered

did u have a look at the fuse in the dvd player first?
you probably shorted the live and earth out , therfore blowing your fuse back in your dis board

Why would you sell a dead DVD player on eBay? It's hardly a booming market, the knackered electronics one.
