Sounds like you need to borrow the right tool to do it.

i should think so if you ask nicely. I think the tool they use is a 'puller' or something similar....without one it's a reet bastid to get off.....

No. What a silly idea. Either ask them to fit it or try harder. You will probably need a steering wheel puller to get it off of the spline if it is on tight. You can sometimes loosen the nut off and give it a hard yank though. If the nut is on too tight for you I suggest you put the tools down.

Yea, give it a good tug with the nut on loosely so you don't twat yourself in the face, or borrow/buy a steering wheel puller. Or get somone to do the job for you

Vauxhall will loosen it for you. If you speak nicely to the technician, he'll let you borrow the puller whilst you sit in the car park fitting the new wheel.

Tie your steering wheel to your maws car and then let her drive off.....if it doesnt work then its her fault

If they loosen it and it came off and you crashed, you would blame them and they would get suied

variation to ^^ tie rope to lampost, other end to steering wheel through an open boot, roll car forwards slowlybut have a stupid mate to sit in passenger seat to hold the wheel and hand brake, tell him to catch the wheel when it pings off, and yank hard on the handbrake.

That sounds like the sort of thing I would do.
