This Tsuami thing that happened, there are thousands of satalites orbiting this planet, surely one would have noticed something was happening in the Indian ocean.
I think there is more to this and major world events that are happening at present.
I really do.

Its was caused by an earthquake in middle of the ocean, surely at satalite would be usless in picking this up.
Ground monitoring would have been better

It has already been said that people saw it coming, but unlike the coast of the US there is no warning system for this kind of event, and so they just had to sit and watch it happen... there wasn't enough time to let all governments know and then get the message to local governments and get the places evacuated... let's hope they will get one fitted!!

A tsunami wave as big as the ones that destroyed SE Asia cannot be seen or felt at deep sea. You could be in a tin boat 2 miles out to sea and not feel a thing.

Another thing with the earthquake, the USGS monitored the actual event and knew it was a big earthquake, but it is still not for certain that a tsunami is created for some time after the initial shock. Firstly, you have to detemine the type of earthquake, like wether it was more/less than 5km's deep, or the earthquake was vertical or horizontal.
This earthquake was so massive and powerful that the earth gained an extra 2 milliseconds of daylight (depending on location), and the earth wobbled on its axis by about an inch.

Ok, it annoys me that these people do not have warning systems. But the people in the know should have a least TRIED to help them.
But then again you do NEED major disasters now and again to keep the population of the planet down.

It sure did its job then! Ollie, these countries did not have the EWS systems of the Pacific Ring countries because nothing like this has never happened in this region. This was a result of thousands of years of pressure between the two plates in question.

There is some fesability to that, the indians and pakistanis and their recent obsession with nuclear testing and amassing a nuclear arsenal, would not be surprised if they fcuked up.

The largest thermonuclears of the cold war could not have even grazed the plates enough to make the move

You said it yourself, America knew therefore if they knew it was a big earthquake why did they not warn them.
It takes 2 seconds to dial a number, even if people could have got upstairs in there buildings it would have saved lives.

well i dont know enough about geology to know this, but if you are clearly stating that they could not have grazed the plates enough then i guess you must. Please could you elaborate on this? and possibly cite some evidence/research studies.
