I wired the standard dash back into my car cos the digidash was pissing me off big time. All the wires are matched properly and in the right place, but when I turn the car on the fuel gauge goes to full. There is no fuel in my car though. Any possible reason why this would happen? The battery is pretty flat too, and there is no fuel, I don't even think the car will start.

Possibly, but I don't think that is standard equipment on a 1.2 8v Merit They come on GLS and above though...

the fuel wire must be earthing out somewhere or you have one crossed. id recheck all the wires mate

you have the rear fog and fuel guage wires mixed up.. they are both black and blue
