has this XE corsa been stripped out?
it would be possible to run that time if it went on a diet and had a good LSD

Sometimes mystifies me why people that own FWD cars are so keen on the 1/4 mile as a measure of their performance....

There are RWD/4x4 cars that can run the same time as me or a tiny bit quicker, and I'd be gutted if on the road they got near me!

I think its fair to say that the standing 1/4 mile is a good indication of how quickly a car can accelerate.

Could be less than 204. 204 is factory figures, if you use a sock for an air filter like Ojc, you could be down on as much as 60bhp!

Ah, assumed 204 was you quoting LET figures, my bad.

Rolling road figures are all plucked out of thin air though. Literally

Bhp is bullshit, even 1/4 mile times don't count for jack.

Is it just mine or is the 3rd gate on every F20 not as deep as the rest?

Mines got an MTech shortshift and it's a nice positive feel into 3rd, but it's not far off neutral.

the average for a corsa not stripped is 15-15.3 a let is very low 14s. me and corb both ran 14.4-14.6 in his let when it was only running 5 psi on limp mode. its now at 10 so will pull a 14 easy

i ran 15.155 last sunday on a greasy track, boggo xe 16' wheels and 16 stone of myself. would get a 15.0 maybe 14.999999999 in the dry, maybe though.

with fwd, it dont matter how much power you have, its all about how you can put it onto the road. a 400bhp let could get beaten by a 200bhp xe, its all down to traction.

in fairness, the let is a far faster engine in std form than an xe, but only on the open roads. quarter mile belongs to well tuned xe. no turbo lag, better power all up the rev range and easier to drive and control.

thats my opinion, not a fact. have an xe corsa and an let nova for the comparrison, and i prefer the n/a grunt.

Your quater mile time is NOT a good indication of your cars acceleration.

BUT! Your terminal speed is!

personally beleive a LET will win, if can get the power down, a bad driver will spin it up untill 4th. Feather the power right and id say like tims time a low - mid 13.

13.28 @ 106.4mph actually.

A std 2.0 16v XE'd Corsa should do the SQM in the 14's, if not the drivers crap!

My 140bhp 1.6 8v 106 Rallye's done 15.07 best.

far less tourque though which plays a big part in the initial moving off the start line..

bradfincham - true as my nova would kill my corsa of the start maybe 1 out of every 5 races, but due to the instant the turbo spins, the wheels spin, so you have to back off and cant apply full throttle really until 4-5k in 3rd gear. means xe corsa is gone and have to catch up.

for anyone who was at crail last sunday, good example this.

mk2 golf with audi tt motor tuned to 290bhp vs my boggo xe corsa and i won, simply due to traction issues. the golf would spin up with virtually no throttle and would spin the length of the 1/4mile and still get a 15.3.

practise makes perfect though i guess
