just incase anyone wondered how much the tar plates weigh.
took in a carrier bag full to work today to put on scales,
this was all of the floor ones, including the spare well, but excluding the tunnel, the roof pieces, and what's in the rear quarters.
came up a couple of grams under 7kg. 
main object was so that i could clean the floor with a view to getting it painted, but thought someone may be interested in the weight saving figure.

You know a coat of paint for a whole car weighs about the same though. Don't paint it

Do it Ferrari F50 style Try and paint the car with half a liter of paint and the rest thinners to save weight

i'll colour it all in with a marker pen that'd be lighter.
looks a bit pants, floor is mostly creamy white type colour with random turquois dusting over it from overspray.
