800 quid is abit steep for that, the equipment is about 400-500 all in So unless hes planning to come out and fit then i believe he can GTF with it

edit - yup you can buy the stuff from mini-itx 290 quid cheaper, WITH a dvd drive, and they arnt exactly cheap in the first place

Would it not be easier to just use a normal laptop on some kind of sliding tray from a custom made glovebox or whatever?

probably yes...
but the screen was intermittent anyways & it runs alot better without it attached if using the 15-pin vga connector instead, as it still used to default to TFT when booting regardless of configuration, but since removing it its always on VGA now

All in my mates Fiesta Turbo, touch screen, all the functions of a PC, & will have GPS SatNav & wireless soon enough, so you could go on MSN at your local maccies, lol.

This was all done for under £300, but he works in IT.

Erm... why would you want to use a PC whilst on the move?

It's bad enough people drive to a carpark to play on Super Mario Brothers on their in-car NES... but writing letters with Word, working out their weekley expenditure in Excel and making pretty pictures with MS Paint - all from the comfort of the driver seat is just a little pointless / sad (delete as applicable).

I'm just going to put a car in my bedroom next to the PC

ability to add gps sat-nav to it, much more storage to play MP3's, WMA's & other types of music files...

also if parked in a carpark waiting for someone, good to watch a few films or some porn on...

In car pc's ain't bad at all to be honest admitedly some just look crap - though can be useful for a few things like

Sat Nav
Massive amounts of mp3's and i mean massive's
useful at cruises or events, plug into card reader and back up loads of pics, without loosing any space on camera

admittedly if people used them for word and crap like that it would be shit, but the above are quite practical
