want to take my plate off and put onto wifes car....

does this still cost £85? and does it still take 4-6 weeks to do??????
I know it costs £25 to put onto retention..but thought i would put it on wifes car till i get another one.But if it's going to cost £85 to put onto wifes car then £85 to put it onto my new one I might as well put it on retention instead?????
