I've got a Fabia vRS - it has 130bhp and some impressive torque figures. Does 0-60 is about 9.5 secs and 60-100 in 11.5 secs.....it feels very quick mainly due to the torque but only for about 2k revs as you have to change gear @ 4500rpm (or if you're like me - well before that). The problem with performance diesels these days is while they do FEEL quick and you get some reasonable performance considering the saving on fuel - in reality they're not very quick.....and don't forget the vRS is one of the quicker diesels around.....

what i do like about it though is that you're able to keep it in 5th gear around country rounds....even from 35-40 mph it still pulls very well....there is virtually no turbo lag at all....

My thoughts exactly, you are being fooled by the sudden delivery of torque. It feels quicker than it is.

the 130 bhp version is actually a better base for tuning, revo get 195 bhp just from a remap, plus if you use the intake from south european cars it lets a bit more air in, infact you can get the 130 bhp version well over 200 bhp easily.
should have a go in my a4, thats a chipped 2.5 tdi, its pretty rapid

The Golf PD130 and PD150 are quicker than the Golf 1.8T 0-60, 30-50 and 50-70.

the 130 got 139bhp actully, while the 150 got 155bhp, i find them nice to drive, but lots of effort, as you only have around 2k from when the turbo cuts in to the end of your rev range, the 6 speed box doesnt do this any favors either with this

AMD maganged to blow up there 210 PD diesel on the test drive, do 200bhp is really the limit for a reliable engine

True - but since Golf's doubled in weight and had to add a turbo to compensate - they've never actually been that quick

obviously the golf tdi aint gonna be as quick as your ibiza seth

But i would love to have one, plenty of torque there to overtake some gimp while having a nice relaxing drive in a good looking car.
