the X800 is an amazing card, but if you are spending money on only the best bits (like you are) then you might as well get the fastest bit of kit on the commercial market.

If you're happy with ME then leave it, if not get XP, i used to have ME but changed to XP and haven't had any issues with it really.

If you want to play decent games on your PC you need a better graphics card, the one you have looks like one integrated with the motherboard though as it just says Intel i830. Don't think you can remove them if it's built into the motherboard so you'll need a free AGP/PCI slot to put another (better) GFX card in, but not too sure, maybe ask Cybermonkey he seems to know a bit about PC's, certainly knows more than me!

Once you get a better card you'll be laughing, your other specs are good enough to run most recent games comfortably!

Yes, my PC just needs a decent graphics card. I remember having this discussion with Steve about a year ago. I don't have a spare slot for a GFX card so need a new motherboard I believe.

By the time I've purchased all this I could buy a new PC

what gets me everyone is saying you need a beast of a system... but if you can run doom 3 you will easily run HL2 as the specs are nowhere near as intense!!

HL2 is more graphically impressive. I was hearing a lot of things yesterday about really bad performance, but since buying and playing the game, Valve have done a fucking amazing job by being able to allow low end users to enjoy it too.

Oliver has an old system, where ages ago, brown AGP slots were the norm. Dont try and act smart just because your's is a different colour.
