My engine is knacked !!!!!

Driving home yest and was happily crusing at bout 60mph and it went bang !!!! Huge black smoke cloud out exhaust...

Got towed home coz wouldn't run and 3 of the exhaust valves have gone...

I know they are easy enough to fix but Im sick of the engine...

Its done 154,000 miles, and this is the 3rd time the valves have gone...Not to mention every oil seal, cam belt 5 times, numerous gaskets e.t.c. (you know the story)...

Basically just wondered if anybody wanted to sell me either a 1.4. or 1.6 engine cheapish (with gearbox, loom e.t.c) local enough so that I can pick it up tonight ???

Joff - aswell as the price - can you confirm where abouts it is - coz you are in Cambridge - which is only 2 hours away - but leeds is 5 hours away from me - so if thats where the engine is - is a bit of a trek - let me know ???

Doesn't have to be a Corsa - can be an astra or anything that will fit in my Corsa..

Shouldn't be to much of a rush - my mate can take engine out and put new one in - in bout 3-4 hours...

he's pretty good...

Helped him do one in a metro and that only took 2hours to get old one out and new one in...

But where I don't finish work till 5pm - the closer the engine to pick up - the better !

ring some local scrappies and tell them to take the engine out of a car they have and u can go collect

Tried scrappies - they want £250 for a 1.4 and £350 for a 1.6...

Just wondered if anyone can go any cheaper...

Anyway none of the scrappies around my area got any 1.4's or 1.6's anyway....

Bradfincham - do I need new driveshafts then if fitting the 1.4 in ?

Does that come with ECU and all other bits e.t.c.

yep basically we took the sri lump out and put my old 140 bhp 1.6 in,
its an 8v but needs shifting

depends what engine you already had, just engine, box, loom and ecu mate

Nothing is as slow as my 1.2 at the mo...

When the valves went - I could only get 20mph outta it in 4th gear with the pedal to the floor !!!!!

And when it was working - I could only get 75mph outta it...

Only got 4 gears...
