i think this saying needs re-inventing.

if i journey into my local chippy and yonder, i take note that chips are about £1, sometimes they are more. Even heard rumours of chips being sold for £1.50

how can this be? all u need is a potato or two and some hot oil

so therefore chips aren't cheap in direct comparison to the price of the raw materials. Someone somewhere is earning a lot of cash from cutting potato's and i feel robbed.

chips cost average €2 over here thats about £1.40

some places are €2.10

75p small and 1.00 large. I live in the north east though. therefore, we are at least 2 years behind in way of technology, inflation etc.

what % profit does a chippy make out of sack of spuds if they can get a sack of about 400 spuds for 6 quid and sell the spuds at 2 quid each...

On sunday I paid nearly £10 for Cod+Chips and Scampi+chips, portions were crap and the bloke serving didn't speak english. Fucking ripoff
