You can trace the IP to whoever is responsible for it (i.e. BTopenworld, Pipex, etc) but like Adam says, unless you have access to their customer records you'd never find out the users address etc -- unless the police got involved and they ISP have to keep logs for these circumstances).

Tim, would this work with broadband then? Sorry guys, im not that good with computers and technical stuff, if it works im happy, if it doesnt i kick it. I just kinda need this to work so i can play my game again, im bored

if you have a cable modem (ISP is either NTL or Telewest/Blueyonder) then switch your cable modem off from the wall for 24hrs...it will change then

If its ADSL (everything else), disconnect and leave it a few hours maybe a day and it should change IP address

in both cases, your basically hoping that while your not connected, someone elses connection will take your IP address, therefore when you reuse you connection again it doesnt find your old one so it gains a different ip address

No -- MAC address is not known to the game server. It's only used on the local subnet...

The ipconfig method will only work if you are connecting direct to the outside world, ie. without a router.

If you're using a router, the quickest way would to take a look at the web admin panel in there and see if that gives you any info.

You could also do a Start -> Run -> cmd and trace a route to here by typing tracert corsasport.co.uk

code:
Tracing route to corsasport.co.uk [194.203.66.54]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.2.1
2 30 ms 11 ms 36 ms 10.4.0.1
3 18 ms 15 ms 16 ms gsrnn-kn.blueyonder.co.uk [62.30.0.nn]
4 72 ms 20 ms 30 ms kno-cas-kno-pos.telewest.net [194.117.136.109]
5 21 ms 18 ms 54 ms 194.117.136.154
6 32 ms 21 ms 38 ms fe0.br3.lnd1.bb.uk.uu.net [195.66.226.16]
7 77 ms 24 ms 23 ms srp4-0.cr2.lnd8.gbb.uk.uu.net [158.43.189.6]
8 29 ms 44 ms 34 ms pos6-0.cr2.lnd6.uk.gbb.uu.net [158.43.253.146]

Here's mine. Top two starting with either 192 or 10 are no good, check the next line after that.

who said anything about mac addresses? mac address stays with the modem/network card and only your ISP knows your mac addresses, therefore unknown to the internet.

Um, why are you telling me this? purple5 asked if the game server wouldn't simply ban your MAC.

Out of interest, what IP do you have in ipconfig?

Starting with 192 or 10 or starting with 217?

I'm seeing 217 which is correct but don't know if ipconfig will give you your external facing address.

the game has not banned my host, i can still connect onto the site. They have simply banned my username but if i reconnect and they recognise my ip, they will ban me again

It might not just be IP. We've banned people here in the past based on what windows update patches were installed. You'd be surprised how much web servers get to know...

unless your behind a router, then it should do

eitherway - http://www.all-nettools.com/pr.htm will give you your real ip address + your proxy address

well, unless you either wait a few hours - a day for it to refresh the IP address (but you cant use the connection) or you can phone your ISP and get them to refresh if for you (although most of them will ask you loads of questions etc)

Buy yourself a router or some sort of firewall cos you've got loads of ports open for the world to see!
