am looking at getting some 16x6.5(i think). i currently have 145/80/13 so i was just wondering what width tyres i would need either. 195/45/16 (195/40/16 is perfect not 1% difference but tyres cost a fortune) or should i go for 205's or will these stick out of the arches and therefore fail an mot unless i either
a) get the arches made wider which i dont really fancy doing cus of cost or
b) just put my steelies back on for one day of the year.
cheers

i was looking on performancealloys.co.uk although they seem quite pricey for some 16" fox evo 3's with there cheapest tyres is £632! might not seem expensive to others but im sure i seen them loads cheaper even in halfords

Mr Tyre round my way in Notts charge £65-£70 inc vat & fitting for the Pirelli P Zero, about £70-£75 for Contis and £84 for Dunlop SP9000's which ive just bought a pair of.

What would be cheaper then buying tyres from them and alloys from wherevers cheapest and getting someone else to fit it although this will probably work out dearer for the fitting.
Probably best just to buy them with tyres fited from Halfords at the mo or wherevers cheapest because of my tax dodging student status

I've had both, there's not much in it and if you have a suitable offset clearance is not really an issue with the larger ones.

40 profiles are actually smaller than a standard GSi tyre.
