Don't sell yourself short. Save up a bit more and get the Koni's a month later.

had fixed rate apex, and koni yellows, both with the same springs and the handling on the konis was FAR FAR superior.

Fronts are top adjustable, rears I think can't be adjusted on car.

don't buy Gmax, Apex or any other cheapo kit. all these tend to to is make the ride stiff and lower the car. if you want a really good handling kit then buy Eibach springs and Billstein shocks (the expensive ones)

They were the budget FK coilovers though. Highsports would be a better option, but given the hassle he's had I'd be tempted to just go for tried and tested Konis.

ive heard FK highsport coilovers are brilliant, however a tad on the soft side, but i guess it depends on how much you lower it

unless you go for the konigsports which are dampness adjustble to but bit on the expensive side, only really worth it if you have the cash or go track days

They're soft because they're designed as "OE" ride quality coilovers - not for extreme handling. For fast road applications, Konigsports would probably be better, but they're just as harsh as every other kit out on the market, at least Highsports give better handling and a degree of comfort.
