Good morning all. Just thought I'd share this all with you, it's pretty funny.
Last night at the pub, my mate who own the above car, 1.6 16v, not the new shape fiesta, but the one before. Anyway, he's always telling me how fast it is and that he's had it upto 135mph and there "was still some left"  But when I look at the stats for this car, the performance compared to cars with similar engine (such as a 106 Gti or Saxo VTS) is poor, very poor. Last night however, the rant got so ridiculous I just have to tell you.
First of all, he was saying that he's sick of VTS's pulling up his ass to race him cos he's know he can "hammer" them, so he drops it down and says "See ya". These were his words not mine.
The best was yet to come. He started asking me about Clio's, and in particular a certain 172 Cup. I said, they are fast as fcuk, 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds and he replies "yeah I thought they were fast, but the other day I raced one and he was up my ass for ages then pulled out to overtake, but he oonly just managed to get past, and he wasn't pullling away either; i was up his ass all the way"
Why do some ppl blatantly lie that their car is faster than it it???

A LAD AS GOT ONE NEAR ME AND TO BE FAIR TO HIM THEY AINT THE SLOWEST OF THINGS, I CANT IMAGINE A 1.4 SPORT KEEPIN UP WITH ONE!

BUT I DUNNO NOW COS A GOTA C20XE IN THERE! WHICH OF COURSE LEAVES IT

There not shite at all, my brothers got one and when i race him (in my 1.4 16v SRi) his cars alot quicker and handles better, loads better. And if you've ever driven one you'll know how good they are to drive, they have amazing amounts of torque! making it feel 10x quicker than it is. Don't get me wrong, i'm not agreeing with the crazy claims that guy in the story was saying, but they are good cars.

the 2L sports are Fast, 172' should have blistering performance

They are really good cars. Handling is amazing in them. I have never had the chance at driving one hard, my mates one i had a little tinkle in but not really n e indicator of how the perform.
I think they are faster than quoted in parkers etc. But no way could it have a clio 172 cup

amazing torque??? what planet are you on?? the engines are absolutely terrible. good chassis though.

and i can easily imagine a 1.4 Sport could out-perform one in a straight line, they are slower than VTR's.

the zetec-s has no torque, and i have no doubt the 16v 1.4 would out perform one, the engines way underpowered and have no potential for tuning.
not really a "hot hatch" at all imo

My 306 derv stays with Zetec-S's and VTRs to 40 ish, then the torque comes in and i pull away with pretty much ease in any gear.
Clio 172s, VTSs and 106 GTis are another league. This kid obviously doesnt have a clue! lol

I had a similar thing one night , some lad saying how is ERST with few basic mods would hammer me easily, i just yeah ok your probally right

my mate has a zetec s and i hav a 1.4 16v sport and he struggles to pass me, the only reason he passess me is wen i put mine in 5th gear as they dont pull to well in 5th

If you haven't driven one, then how would you know what toque it has? I've driven my brothers car loads of times and no matter what gear your in it will pull hard, it has loads of low down torque. My SRi has absolute shite torque.

my mrs owned a zetec-s and i have had 1.4 16v sport and 1.6 16v sport so i know which is faster, down the A5 to milton keynes cruise once which is a good few miles in straight line the zetec-s could not leave my 1.4 16v engine and we was flat out at 112mph on my clock and my car would not pull anymore really, and come on i know when some1 is racing with ya
since i had 1.6 16v i can overtake my m8's vtr from a standstill when we get upto 4th gear and leave it quite abit, and the zetec-s keeps with my m8's vtr so they are not as quick as a 1.6 16v corsa in a straight line
and come on guys zetec-s may well handle ok but they built like a french shit heep, the whole car is held together with plastic clips, very poor build quality

my corsa beats zetec-s', it still beat them before when i had the 1.4 in. that was with all that stereo i had in there too, engine was about 100bhp.
