Drove an Audi TT 3.2 V6 with DSG gearbox for 3 laps
Then onto a 1.8 newer shape Lotus Elise for 3 laps
Then finally a Ferrari F355 for 3 laps, was LHD too.
Well the TT was a bit dull to be honest, too many electrical gizmo's to keep you from fucking up. Plus it was a bit wobbly round some bends and overall didnt feel that fast at all.
The Lotus Elise on the other hand was amazing! Such an easy car to thrash around. It takes everything you've got to give it and more. The gear change was short as fuck and the grip and stability for such a raw car were superb! Couldnt fault it at all
Then there was the F355. Well what can i say. As soo as i turned the key to start it............ What a noise! Finding the bite was tricky as the clutch is pretty snappy but when i got going it was piss. Left the pit area and floored it in 2nd, no idea how fast i was going as i was too scared to take my eyes off the road It was amazingly powerful and the responsiveness was second to none. The instructor told me to floor it several times which i obviously did Bounced off the rev limiter in 4th a couple of times though Loving the engine noise too much to change up What a car!!! Not as agile as the Lotus but cant beat it for the grin factor.
Then we each had a flying lap in another 3.2 V6 TT by a race driver. Scary isnt the word! He was pushing that car to the absolute limit. Didnt realise the TT was capable of that til he did it.
Finally came my passenger ride in the fastest Caterham that they make, the Superlight R. I have never been so scared in all my life! This thing was mental, it was so so fast and it grips more than anything i've ever been in. Some of the speeds he took the corners at were unreal! Plus the noise of it and the wind factor from having minimal bodywork hit 140mph on Hanger Straight before undertaking 2 F355's What a machine!!
Essay i know but it was a top day out!!
Pics later

My parents booked it through http://www.silverstone-circuit.co.uk/
The Ferrari 355 Experience:
'FERRARI INSPIRES LEVELS OF DESIRE, DEVOTION and passion like no other. Here’s your chance to find out why on a real motor racing track.
You’ll start with a thorough briefing on safety and driving techniques. Then it’s out on track for your preparation laps. For these we use two fabulous sports cars. Firstly the powerful Audi TT then progressing on to the agile Lotus Elise to help you learn the circuit and build your speed and skill. Alongside your ARDS instructor, you’ll also learn the racing lines and braking points all in preparation for the impressive performance of the supercar that awaits you next.
Then, you’ll be introduced to the legendary Ferrari 355. Feel the power of the 380bhp, 40 valve V8 engine as you move through the gears. The almost supernatural responsiveness is breathtaking. And, above all, the exquisite handling, the whole car feeling alive in a way no other can rival. Suddenly, you understand what Ferrari is all about.'
Paid extra to get 4 laps in the Caterham, worth every penny!

Nah the bloke was pretty cool. He kept talking over me though when i was trying to ask questions After the 2nd lap he pretty much sat back and watched, i had just about learnt the course by then as i had a go in the TT first. The Ferrari was a handful to drive, way too powerful for someone that usually drives a 1.4 Corsa

The Elise was awesome! So easy to drive and you can give it loads of shit and it takes it. Hard to fault it. Saying that i did change down instead of up once as the Elise has no real gear gaiter or anything Whoops!

aye, ive done the caterham too, got some photos somewhere (will have a butchers) and some vids of the caterham going around the track
What was worse about my day was that it was pissing it down and it was scary as fuck as the driver, rob something, threw the caterham into the corner, grabbed a rag from his lap and was one handed steering the caterham around the corner at 90, whilst getting it to slide everywhere, and wiping the inside of the window at that point i held onto the side of the door with my life as we came to the straight and he punted the thing up to 140 odd in the rain, passing the TTs, Elise's and Ferrari's
from that day i said im gonna get a kit car, so next year, its selling the corsa for one for the summer and have a few bashs around thurleigh (only about 10mins away from me)
