Is it ok to paint headlight type bulbs (in theory) with bulb paint or will it not work?

why on earth would you want to do that?

You buy halogen etc lights to gain VISABILITY.... painting them will just make them duff

best not too

the headlight bulbs reach really high temperatures, & I've known ones which have been touched by greasy fingers to crack/shatter when there hot.

thats why people always advise to hold them by the metal base or pins then fitting them & not hold them by the glass.

I said in theory. I didn't ask for an opinion on the practicalities I simply asked if it would work.
