are engine conversions more expensive to insure or do some companies not bother ?

it much more than if u had the car it came from

e.g a 1.6 16v into a 1.2 8v

My insurance went up by £85 when I informed them of the 2ltr conversion. Not too bad I think. Thats with HIC, all mods declared, limited milage and agreed valuation

the insurance group is taken from the car that the engine came from, and its a bit stupid not telling them cos if you crash then you wont be covered. Many companies refuse to cover modified cars too, especially engine conversions, so shop around for quotes before you get anything done.

The engine is from a Cav GS1, I've four years no claims behind me and I'm of a mature age
