Incorrect. As of the 1st January 2004 it is illegal to apply any form of window tint forward of the B pillar on any vehicle. Behind the B pillar, you can do what the hell you like, heck, you could even paint your windows black if you like.

Other than chemically tinting the window that is (the way it is done in the factory), you will be given 14 days to remove the tint, then you must go to the Police station to get your car checked over... BUT if you have tinted windows, they must let in a certain ammount of light, factory or not. So, Limo tints forward of the B pillar illegal... Complicated law. BUT you can't have tints now... Sorry dude

Wrong, sorry, this is a new law, unless it has been changed, you CANNOT have tints forward of the B pillar.

No the law states that 70% of light must be visible. Hence 30% tint is allowed.

You can live in whatever dream world you like, but as of 1st January 2004 it is now illegal to fit window tints forward of the B pillar. Trust me. In fact, go and get your windows tinted to 30% and see what the police have to say. You will find it hard to have it done, as many of the reputable tinting companys will not tint forward of the B pillar

Most tinting companies will be more than happy to tint whatever windows you want. However they will inform you on the legislation that they could be taken off. I had my tints done yesterday and the guy explained that if i got stopped for my tints on front window (light smoke), the government rules state that they can only ADVISE you to take it off

No, they give you 14 days to remove the tint before the B pillar. It IS THE LAW. If you choose to ignore the facts I am saying then you are being ver ignorant. This is the truth, it has been poorly publicised, and few people know about the implications in the change in the law, but it is illegal to have tints before the B pillar, and you can be forced to have them removed. The police will give you 14 days grace to have the work done.

This is due to people having excesively tinted windows, and in particular, a fatal accident involving a car and a motorbike, where the car driver failde to see the motorbike due to excessively tinted windows.

Good read that, it points to what I just fucking said, Do you wanna read it?

This will effectively ban *****virtually***** all tinted films fitted to windows forward of the B-Post on any vehicle that is to be driven on UK roads.

There is however, a recognised difference between “light window tints” which may be considered safe for road use (such as those supplied to you by Pentagon) and “excessively dark window tints” which are not.

Above 30% Visible Light Transmission (Less Severe Window Tints)

The owner or driver of such a vehicle would be required to have the tinted film removed from the windows under the direction of either a Rectification Notice or a Delayed Prohibition Notice. A period of grace will apply for a limited number of days (normally ten) during which time the vehicle may be driven whilst the rectification work is to be completed.

to be honest IDGAS, if you wanna worry about the law I suggest you don't follow it up with a loud exhausts or pass any speed limits. Sell your car and get a nice mountain bike, but don't forget to wear your helmet, fit a bell and a set of lights...

I don't have a loud exhaust. They are for cocks. My car is a 1.2, it is not fast, does not need a loud exhaust and I have learned my lesson about speeding. Perhaps I gave a bad exapmle (link) to prove my point about the window tints...

eh excuse me 'mate' but i take great offence to being called a 'cock'. Keep your opinions to yourself in future as you are basically calling millions of people 'cocks' for no apparent reason. Just because people choose to have a louder sounding exhaust doesnt make them a 'cock'

as most things are
the law is laid down, but it is sometimes just at the discresion of ur local PC Plod!
there is a test they can do to see if ur windscreen lets the correct amount of light in
but its still up 2 ur local bobby!
the law on car mods isnt v clear, and in places where it might seem clear,
most of the cops dont even know about it!

Ur biggest problem is ur front window
as new technology will allow speed cameras 2 take a photo of the driver!
but if u hav tinted windows,
it wont b able2!
so i think the'll start crackin down on it then!

my mate has a 206 wiv Limo black tints all round!
its crazy at night! but as our local bobbys r all motorway based,
they spend little time patrolling the streets of middlewich and sandbach!

its all F**ked up, in other words!

ps. I have Limo tints front and back except my front winscreen!
i hav chatted 2 a few local bobbys about my car!
they hav gone round it and inspected it!
and never even commented on my tints!

they same thing has happened 2 my mate wiv all round limo black tints!

stupid F**kers!
