Sorry if this has already been posted.

BAR chief David Richards has admitted to being 'dumbfounded' following Jenson Button's announcement that he has signed to drive for Williams in 2005.
Button on Thursday night revealed he had signed a two-year deal with the Berkshire outfit but Richards said: "Until we can speak to him personally and find out what is going on with him it would be unfair to criticise him.

"Basically he's never had one word of criticism and I have numerous emails from his management suggesting that it's a formality he will stay with the team not just next year but the year after.

"I am rather dumbfounded. We are here at the factory with 400 people that I have to brief shortly because people want an explanation. Jenson is under contract with BAR for 2005, since we took up an option on his services only last month."

Button has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the BAR-Honda team with seven podium finishes and only one retirement, but reportedly got out of his contract on a technicality.

"It's not about contracts, it's about personal relationships," Richards added. "We'll have to speak to Jenson himself and try to discuss it.

"Anyone will suggest that we had one of the most content drivers, one of the most successful. Someone who two years ago wasn't having a great time and we brought him forward as a great member of our team."

As things currently stand it would appear Button will team up with Australian Mark Webber in a Williams next year - and Williams technical director Sam Michael is convinced Button's new contract is binding.

"Jenson wants to come to Williams and he told us that a number of days ago. That's why he signed a contract," Michael said.

"We know he will be driving for Williams because we've looked at the contract and we've had the opportunity of time, which Dave [Richards] hasn't."

Not so sure that Mark Webber is a good selection for Williams.

As for Button, its a good career move BUT i do think that its too soon.

I have to disagree there. For example, Silverstone and Germany have had some fantastic overtaking manouevers, some of the best ive seen in a long while. Granted the past few years have been dull but i think the level of competition is becoming greater among the top 10 drivers.

Its getting better, the cars are having to work harder on reliability and its showing. The back runners are never going to much cop, take Minardi for example. Shame Jordan isnt doing better. Ive got Raikonnen, Button, Trulli and Alonso to do much better from now on, as long as the cars hold out anyway, i have faith in there driving ability and maturity on the track.

Coulthard should give up, he gets a result when he's lucky but i dont rate him as a driver. He hasnt got it in him, its not in his blood.

I mark Hakkinen for a return in 2-3 years then stay for 2 seasons, first season he'll finish 1st - 4th then second season 6-10th.

dont rate DC

wouldnt mind jacque back in a decent car, one to challenege schuie - also with Montoya in a challenging car as these 2 dont give a shit about schuie where as others admit defeat without even challenging

Villeneuve had the edge...........then lost it - towards the end his heart wasnt in it like it was in his first 2 seasons.

Even so, you still should give it 100% whether the team is performing or not, he shouldnt have bailed while the team was on such a steep learning curve.
